Cecil William Redden was born in Redden, Oklahoma on April 8th, 1935 in the town named after his grandfather who was the Postmaster. His parents, Jesse Redden and Mae Pearl Ratcliff raised eight children with one brother Ernie, deceased at two years old. Pete, Herman, Cecil, Jim, Rusty, Merlene, Ken, and Sharon all helped to keep the family close with yearly reunions and family gatherings which were all centered around the brothers “Making Music Together”.
Cecil moved to Dallas in the 50’s and after exploring a few different industries began a long career in Real Estate, Insurance, and Investing. Through the years, Cecil helped many families obtain their dream of owning a home in North Texas. He was a goal setter who became passionate over many ventures in his life. Real Estate and helping others was primary but Cecil was also an avid runner with his biggest accomplishment of competing in and finishing the New York City Marathon. Cecil was also an expert snow skier as well. As a member of the Dallas Ski Club he competed (and won) many races and events in his favorite vacation spot of Vail, Colorado.
But most people will remember Cecil as a Country Singer. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, and performing. His love of singing was evident as he carried his guitar and equipment with him always. His songs and voice will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He will also be fondly remembered by his many, many friends around the country for his keen sense of humor. He was always the guy with a good one-liner and who never met a stranger.
Cecil is survived by his love Ann McBride. Cecil and Ann enjoyed 47 years of happiness together and traveling the world on so many adventures. Ann brought out the best in Cecil with her love and support and she made him an even better man and father.
Cecil also leaves behind his two daughters, Sherry Redden Massey (husband Randall), Gina Redden Hill (husband Ronnie), two grandchildren, Courtney Johnson (husband Clint), Connor Hubbard (wife Mattie), and special great Nephews Scott Collins and Jonathan Collins (son Troy).
He is survived by his brothers Jim and Ken along with sisters Merlene and Sharon and a multitude of close relatives, nieces and nephews. All held a very special place in Cecil’s heart as family was the most important thing to Cecil.
