Catherine M. Smith

Catherine M. Smith was born Wednesday, July 9, 1930 in Selma, Dallas County, Alabama. She departed this life on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas. Her parents were Louis Martinear and Luevenia Moore. She joined her mother and older half-sister Eliza B. Moore as a family unit. They resided in Selma. Catherine attended and completed her secondary education in the Selma Public Schools.

She met and married Rudolph A. Smith on March 31, 1951 in Selma, Alabama. Rudolph was a Staff-Sergeant in the U. S. Air Force. They were stationed in various locations. It was while they were stationed in the Portsmouth/Norfolk, Virginia area that Rudolph passed on March 16, 1961.

She moved to Texas to be near her sister and mother. She worked in the medical field, spending many years as a medical transcriptionist. She worked at St. Paul Hospital and Chester Clinic in Dallas, ending her career working at Midway Park Hospital in Lancaster, Texas.

She leaves to mourn her passing, nephew Johnny Moore (Ivey), and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. Paternally, she leaves a half-sister, Willie Louis Martinear, a special niece Gwendolyn M. Thomas, and a host of relatives.
