Carolyn Stark Crosby

Carolyn was born on November 13, 1931 in Oklahoma City. Her parents were Ernest L. and Winifred Crowell Stark. She also had an older sister named Winifred (Freddie) Stark. The family moved to Dallas when Carolyn was in the second grade. She entered Bradfield Elementary School and continued in the Highland Park ISD until graduating from Highland Park High School in 1948. She received the “H” Blanket Award in her class recognizing her contributions through various activities. Her college years were spent at SMU and she received her degree in 1952. During her time in college she became a member of the Tri Delta sorority. She continued to be active in the Tri Delta alumni group over the years. Carolyn taught school briefly at University Park Elementary School. She then entered the business world as a legal secretary. This period included two years in New York City working at the executive offices of Georgia Pacific Corporation. She married Richard H. Crosby on May 6, 1966 and ceased working outside the home in a few months. Carolyn and Dick had two children who are Charles Richard Crosby and Karen Ann Sweezy. They also have two grandchildren who are Ellie Sweezy and Brendan Sweezy. Carolyn was raised a member of Park Cities Baptist Church. When she and Dick married she moved her membership to Highland Park Methodist Church so that their family would all be in the same church. She has remained a member of H.P. Methodist till the current time. Carolyn was predeceased by her parents and her older sister Freddie. She is survived by her immediate family and the family of her niece, Carol Hagen and nephew Ronald Rigney. A private graveside burial service has been conducted by Rev.
