Carol Lovell Tullar, 71, passed on to heaven on February 15, 2024. Carol was born on June 17, 1952 in Waco, Texas to parents Juanita Louise (Whitehurst) Lovell and Ira Walter Lovell. She was married to Luke Christian Tullar on December 31, 1982. They lived in Cedar Hill, Texas during their 34 years of marriage. Luke preceded Carol in death on March 15, 2016.
Carol finished High School in Denton, Texas where she worked part-time at the Denton Telephone Company. She later completed bookkeeping and secretarial training in a Dallas junior college. Carol worked as bookkeeper at Bobby McGee's Restaurant and disco in Dallas, Texas during the late 1970's until September 4, 1981, when she was injured during the robbery of the business. By the grace and mercy of God, Carol survived five gunshot wounds to her head, recovered and went on to share her testimony on the 700 Club and the Hour of Power and with many people throughout the rest of her life.
In 1984 she enrolled in Christ for the Nations in Dallas and graduated on August 10, 1986 with an Associate Diploma of Practical Theology. Also during the years of 1984 to 1997 Carol worked in the office of Texas United for Life, a pro-life organization dedicated to saving babies from abortion. After 1997 she was a receptionist at Church Of The King and later self-employed as a bookkeeper from her home office.
Carol had great enthusiasm and zest for life. She loved her friends and family and enjoyed every opportunity to spend time with them. Above all else, she loved God and especially spending time with Him, and knew that in every moment and every circumstance He was by her side, looking after her.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Juanita and Ira Lovell, her beloved grandmother, Susan Jane Whitehurst and her dear husband, Luke Tullar.
She is survived by her brother, Herbert Lovell and his wife, Judy of Waco, Texas; sisters, Susan Armstrong of Corinth, Texas, Linda Lovell of Corinth, Texas and Sharon Bounds of Denton, Texas. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Brian Tullar and Laurie Hosea; nieces, Diana Guarjardo, Melissa Seaton, Susan Shay, Gail Menden, Jamie Carpenter and Tina Bryant; nephew, Billy Bounds and their spouses; several great nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
