Carmen Ramjallacksingh Salsa (“Mimi” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren), of Dallas, Texas, passed away on September 14, 2024, in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. She will always be remembered as gentle, loving, and kind to all who knew her. She was born on April 16, 1937, in La Brea, Trinidad to Basmathia and William Ramjallacksingh.
Carmen lived in many different parts of the world, attending nursing school in London, where she discovered her love of service. She was a bright light in the lives of everyone who had the pleasure to know her. She had countless roles, including: Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Cousin, Nurse, Counselor, Teacher, and Friend. She was a lifelong student, dedicated to learning about different forms of spirituality and religion in her free time. She was and will always be the heart of the family, uniting everyone with her positive energy. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She took every opportunity to gather with those she loved, with visitors often filling the guest rooms of her home and experiencing her home-cooked meals. When she was not at home, she could sometimes be found winning the jackpot on a slot machine in a casino, bringing a freshly cooked meal to a
loved one in need, or spending time in nature. She had a unique sense of humor and often had people in stitches with her jokes and excellent sense of comedic timing. She never failed to bring a smile to someone’s face.
Carmen is survived by her husband of 65 years, Maurice R. Salsa, siblings Frank (Sonia) Ramjallacksingh, sister Dumil Van Royen, children Barbara Crawford Katave (Ilan), and Zenaida Giakoumakis (George), grandchildren Jordan Gasc (Katie), Julia Beckman (Wes), Blake Crawford, Evan Giakoumakis (Sabrina), Zachary Giakoumakis, Sophia Kovalick, and great-grandchildren Sawyer, April and Silas. She was preceded in death by her son Christopher Salsa.
The inurnment will take place at 11:00am on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 7405 W Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75225.
