Carlos M. Martinez

Carlos Manuel Martinez, “Charlie” to his friends and family, was born in Dallas, Texas, on July 12, 1949, to Mr. Manuel Martinez, Jr. and Mrs. Melquiades Martinez. He passed away on March 24, 2015, in Plano, Texas, at the age of 65. If you met him only briefly you would have already known he was a genuine, kind and loving man. He cared deeply for his family and loved to brag about his children and grandchildren. Charlie was a creative man who enjoyed every day of his career in aircraft mechanics. He enjoyed tinkering with anything that contained a motor- there wasn’t a lawn mower motor or tractor engine he could resist. He did it all while jamming to his favorite Tejano tunes. His favorite getaway was a peaceful place he dubbed “the farm” in Frost, Texas; it was a labor of love created from acres of overgrowth with his two hardworking hands. Carlos proudly served his country as a Marine during the Vietnam War where he was stationed overseas in the Philippines. His love of his country was followed closely by his love of all things Dallas sports especially the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks. He is loved by many and will be deeply missed by all those whose heart he touched. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gilda Martinez; sons, Carlos Martinez (wife Amanda), Jimmy Ross, Phillip Ross; daughter, Kimberly Wright (husband William); grandsons, Elijah Myles, Aidan Wright, Jack Wright, Brady Wright; granddaughters, Katherine Ross, Natalie Ross , Emerson Martinez; sisters, Cora Garca, Nancy Martinez; brothers, Manuel Martinez III, and Enrique Martinez. The Martinez Family cordially invites you to join in remembering and celebrating the life of Carlos. Visitation will be held at Calvary Hill Funeral Home between 4PM and 8PM with a Time of Remembrance at 6:30PM on Monday, March 30, 2015. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Monica’s Catholic Church at 10AM on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Burial will be held at the DFW National Cemetery at 12:30PM with a reception to follow at St. Monica’s Catholic Church at 1:30PM.
