Brice Kirkgard “Kirk” Gaston was born in Dallas, Texas on December 7, 1927, to Brice and Nellia Gaston, and passed away peacefully on February 9, 2019. Kirk earned the rank of Eagle Scout in his youth. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and earned a B.S. in Geology from College of Mines and Metallurgy (now known as University of Texas at El Paso). He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1947. Kirk worked as a Geologist most of his career with Sun Oil Company for 26 years, and then worked as an independent Geologist until he retired. He was married to Vera Louise Gaston, who preceded him in death 2007.
Kirk is survived by his daughters, Gina Rentz and husband John Rentz, Cynthia Slaton and husband Kenneth Slaton. He is also survived by granddaughters Elizabeth (Rentz) Willier and her husband Paul Willier, great granddaughter Natalie Willier, Katharine Rentz, Kallie (Slaton) Kennon and her husband Endri Kennon and their daughters, Sierra and Paige. His brother Phillip O. Gaston preceded him in death 2012 and is survived by Martha Gaston and their daughters Deborah Gaston and Cheryl Monticello and their family members. Kirk is remembered for his love of God, family and friends, the great outdoors, especially the Southwest, and his photography, woodworking, and geologic interests.
The family thanks the clergy and staff of Church of the Incarnation for their continuous concern and support. Also, the family feels grateful for the professional and compassionate care given by the staff, nurses and physicians of Seasons Hospice and Texas Presbyterian Hospital and the dedicated specialists who gave exceptional care.
