Brian Bennett Myers, affectionately known as “Honeybunny”, dad, and Uncle B, peacefully departed his earthly home surrounded by loved ones on March 11, 2025. A gentle yet big presence, Brian’s life was a tapestry woven with accomplishments, love, and a quiet appetite for life. His deep love for his family left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Most importantly, Brian was a son of God. His faith was unwavering and a gift to all who witnessed it. Compassionate and giving, he was always willing to help anyone in need.
Brian was born to Donald and Patricia Myers on June 18, 1964, in McAllen, Texas. Brian’s childhood in Donna, Texas was spent playing in the furniture store his parents owned as well as enjoying the splendor of life in the valley. Most weekends were spent with his father on their deer lease, hunting and fishing with cousins and friends. Brian cherished those days with his dad and cousins and would often profess that these were “the best of times”. While in high school, Brian lived in Ireland as a foreign exchange student and would graduate from Valley Grande Adventist Academy in Weslaco, Texas at the ripe age of 16.
After high school, Brian packed his car and headed to Texas A&M. Here he met his lifelong friends and pursued his passion in geology. Field studies provided the perfect backdrop for all his good stories and it is here that Brian fell in love with Big Bend. He would graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Geology and eventually return to complete a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. During the early years of his career, Brian traveled the world, ran marathons, and continued to pursue his passions of camping and hiking. The world of finance would become his home, having a career spanning over 35 years.
On a fateful flight in 1996, Brian would meet his bride of 26 years, Tara Sue Abbe. Having two beautiful boys, Beckett and Lleyton, the Myers family was complete. Their world centered around the boys and their passion for things such as sports, education, and hunting. Family summers at Lake LBJ were their happiest of times with days spent boating and swimming…soaking in the sun. After the recent launch of the boys into adulthood, Tara and Brian began a new season of “empty nesting”. Dance classes, operas, and weekend getaways would fill their time, centering their focus on each other and Christ.
Brian Myers was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Patricia (Bennet) Myers. He is survived by his devoted wife Tara (Abbe) Myers and sons Beckett and Lleyton Myers of Dallas, Texas, and his sister Diane Myers of McAllen Texas, and brother Marshall and wife Leslie Myers of Uvalde, Texas. Brian is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews
