Brenda Dene Jennings Arrington passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the age of 82. She was born in Dallas, Texas, on January 14, 1940. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, James and Drusilla Jennings, her daughter Angel and her granddaughter Madyson.
Brenda was a gifted student, graduating early from Woodrow Wilson High School with honors. As a young woman, she was quickly promoted to Executive Assistant to the President at Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Company. After giving birth to her second daughter, Brenda served the Dallas community by volunteering with the PTA, by serving as classroom representative, by working as a chairwoman and troop leader with the Girl Scouts and by coaching several youth soccer teams. In 1976, Brenda was one of the founding members of Solar Soccer Club and received her “D” license to coach soccer. Throughout her life Brenda was an accomplished decorator, seamstress, quilter, beader and crafter of all kinds. According to her sister, “She was meticulous in her sewing and beading. Always beautiful and perfect. She needed a bead cabinet, so she built one. She could knit, crochet and dye fabrics”. In addition, Brenda created incredible recipes and hosted exquisite parties for friends and family.
As her two daughters neared college, Brenda found the perfect job: she became the Dallas manager at Covington Fabrics in the World Trade Center. She managed the accounts and sold wholesale fabric to some of the largest retailers in the region. She attended numerous trade shows in the U.S. and overseas.
After retirement, Brenda traveled the world with her husband, family and friends. She loved learning about history and other cultures, particularly paying attention to the vibrant art and fabrics. Her greatest love was the study of Asian culture and art. Brenda was an active member in the Dallas Bead Society, the Dallas Fabric Guild and the Dallas Book Club. She attended hundreds of classes to master her creative skills. Brenda took the most pride in her family, creating cherished memories for those she loved.
Brenda leaves behind her loving husband and one-true-love of 62 years, Larry C. Arrington; daughters Cynthia Vokey of Dallas, Texas, and Laura Law of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; sons-in law Colby Vokey and Malcolm Law, III; grandchildren Jeff, Christina, Connor, Malcolm and Camden; great- grandchildren Oliver and Virginia; sister Sue and brother Paul and his wife Betsy; brother-in-law Raymond and his wife Ellie; nieces Robin, Holly, and Keri and nephew Brandon.
A memorial service honoring Brenda’s life will be celebrated on February 26, 2022, at 3pm at Sparkman/Hillcrest in Dallas.
