Bonnie Little Martin passed away on March 12, 2013 at the age of 71. She was born to Elmer and Ruth Little in San Antonio, Texas on April 10, 1941. She grew up in San Antonio and Abilene, Texas where she graduated from Abilene High School in 1959.
She married George M. Martin of San Antonio, Texas on November 7, 1970. Bonnie and George moved to Chicago in 1974 and built a home in Barrington Hills where they resided for the past 35 years. She worked as a flight attendant at Eastern Airlines for 25 years. An active volunteer and member of Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, IL, Bonnie served as the Toddler Sunday School Leader for a decade as well as working for the pastor’s conferences and the church’s mail team. Having both a husband and daughter who had graduated from Baylor University, she also helped recruit high school students in the Chicagoland area for Baylor University as well as establishing several endowments to assist those students who might not otherwise be able to do so. A woman of very strong Christian values, she was blessed with the gift of hospitality, loved playing with her granddaughter and was a loving and supportive wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, George M. Martin, brother Robert D. Little, daughter Mary M. Magers and husband Whitney, and grandchild Maren Magers. Visitation will be at the Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75225 (214-363-5401) from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, March 15, 2013. A funeral service will be held at the same location, Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the March of Dimes.
