We have been married for 58 years and for 56 years BJ, Patsy, Odice and I celebrated our wedding anniversaries, together. theirs on Feb.23rd and our on the 21st....(when I came into the family BJ was stationed in CA, in the Navy).. and Patsy was living with her parents, at 311 N.Barnett..too, too many FUN memories. One time BJ loaned Odice his truck and we went camping at Lake Greason, AR and Odice almost burned up BJ's truck pouring gas on the fire.(his truck too close to the fire)... then he took the truck and had the oil changed and the truck fell off the lift...but BJ loved us dearly.. He was a Scout Leader, Troup 79, and helped Robert, Glenn and Jerrell get their Eagle Badge...and one time Joel decided to "run away" and BJ found Joel hitch hicking to his hunting place, in W.TX.. As I try to write this tears flow for all the good and bad times we shared... I will miss you but know you are at PEACE. our love, OLJ/Wanda

We have so many happy memories of the times that we spent with Bob and Patsy and especially of Bob. He loved to come down to Mom & Dad's for his yearly hunting trips.  I think that he came to visit and eat Mom's cake as much as hunt and I can't tell you how many times that we watched the video & heard the story of the "Big Hunting Trip" that Bob and Dad took to Colorado.  They had so much fun!  It was always so special to hear their laughter & to see their eyes light up when they got to talking about it - I wonder if we ever got the whole story??   BJ was very special man and a true friend. He will be missed.

A few words on BJ

I want to start out by thanking [Robert] for sharing a few words (in lieu of my unavoidable absence) written from the heart and in memoriam of my great Uncle BJ. 



I'm not sure where to begin when writing about the loss of my uncle BJ Walters. Ever since I was a young boy when I first went to Texas and met my great Uncle BJ I was always intrigued by this man. Uncle BJ was a man of true character and grit, he was as real an American as any real American could hope to be; he told it like it was and wasn't afraid to profess his love for family, God and country. With a sweet and gentle voice but with the integrity to back up every sentence he spoke, you knew you could take BJ's word to the bank. I knew Uncle BJ as more of a partner to Uncle Charles, his brother, and together they were truly two of a kind. With their worldly knowledge, boyhood stories and blatant unwillingness to be politically correct, these two were a true pair, seldom seen anymore in this high- tech and fast- paced current day world of ours. The camaraderie and brotherly bantering were certainly a sight to behold, as many at this gathering are sure to recall. 



On a few more recent trips to Texas I really enjoyed my time together with my Texas family out at BJ's ranch in Jefferson. We blasted away on the range and talked guns and politics, stuffed ourselves with Aunt Patsy's wonderful food and hospitality, drank beer and shared so many great stories together until the wee hours. Uncle BJ and his brother Uncle Charles; these two men seemed to me to forever embody the greatness of the American Spirit, and they always will. True timeless patriots, whose love for our country, the great outdoors, family, hunting and the shooting sports absolutely helped to shape me into who I am today. 



Uncle BJ, I know we spoke just recently and your only concerns over the phone were about me and my family, as always your soft yet assuring words were more than welcome in a world filled with so much uncertainty. I will always wish that I could have visited one more time to Texas with Cassie, Carynn and Olivia; so that we may have all had just another bit of time on this earth together. You may be physically gone from this world Uncle BJ, but your spirit will always live on in Our Family. Rest in Peace, and may we one day again share the company of each other.

Thank you for sharing BJ with us these last few months at Arbrook. His gentle spirit inspired all those who came around him. God has welcomed home a good and faithful servant.

I will always remember how loving and kind my Uncle BJ was to me when, as a young girl, I would visit my mom's family in Dallas on my summer vacations.  BJ always had a smile and a hug for me each time I saw him.  Uncle BJ was an inspiration to us all.

May God wrap His loving arms around you all during this difficult time.  Bob was such a wonderfully kind & loving person who had a such a gentle way of making everyone feel special.  It has been such a blessing to know BJ and Patsy.  They loved you children dearly.  God Bless and Keep you and give you the comfort of His love.

Dear Robert, Glenn, Leah and family, 
My heart goes out to each of you and your families. We have all been blessed to have spent many wonderful years together at family get togethers. We will always remember and give thanks to God for the blessing BJ has been to everyone who has known him. At times like these, I especially miss my Texas family and wish we could be with each of you personally. However, please know each of you are in our thoughts and prayers here in PA. May the Lord be your strength as you remember all your dad has done for our families and friends. We'll forever cherish the many wonderful times we have had together thoughout the years and miss the joy he could bring to any situation.

BJ is my wife's uncle, and we live in New England, so I never got to meet BJ often enough. But those times we did get together, like at his and Patsy's place in Jefferson; or at our place in Massachusetts when we took a long drive up the coast of Maine and stayed on the ocean in Southwest Harbor and he befriended the ex-Navy owner of the inn and they talked “US Navy” together all the while; or when he and Deb delivered a new US flag to our widowed neighbor who happened to be wearing his retired Navy hat and BJ sprung out of our car and struck a proper salute and chatted him up about all things family and country - he was so proud of both.Those were times when I had the privilege to get to know one of the most honorable, charming and unforgettable men of my life. He became “Uncle BJ” to both Deb and myself; we enjoyed his uplifting phone conversations immensely; and we will miss his warm, caring, considerate, and humorous personality dearly.

"Uncle B.J.was the most kind and sweet man I have ever known.   He always told me I was precious.  He was like the father I never had.   I loved the way he took care of his mother, his wife and family and truly cared about everyone.  Till his dying day, he always tried to be upbeat and to lighten everyone else's load.
