Billy Joe Lee, 81 of Sunnyvale, Texas passed away at his home on January 15, 2014. He was born on August 15, 1932, to Felix Grundy Lee and Julia (Shoemake) Lee. Billy served his country in the Air Force followed by a career as a quality control specialist for the Navy at LTV in Grand Prairie. Upon retiring from the Navy he went to work for Unitron where he established and oversaw their quality control program.
Billy enjoyed many years with his family and friends doing what he loved whether it was working on his land in East Texas, doting on his grandchildren, attending Long Creek Baptist Church, traveling with his friends in the Plano Good Sams Club, or just making people smile and laugh. A 32 degree Mason for over 50 years, Billy was a proud member of the James Ladd Burgess Lodge # 1305 of Dallas. Billy is survived by his loving wife Joyce Lee; son James Lee and wife Fonn; grandsons Brandon, Aaron, and Carson Lee. Brother; John Franklin Lee; sister Bobbie Riley; step-son Tommy Lightfoot and wife Kim; step-daughter Tammy Thorne; step-daughter Cynthia Dittmar and husband Tony; step-daughter Jennifer Tapp and husband Scotty; Step-grandsons; Casey Tapp, Jacob and Pierce Dittmar; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. Billy is preceded in death by his first love, Floy Gean Rowan, to whom he was married to for 53 years; Parents; Felix and Julia (Shoemake) Lee, and sister Barbara Slayden. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a. m. on January 18, 2014 in Grove Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Grove Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday, January 17, 2014 from 6:00 p. m. - 8:p.m. in Grove Hill Funeral Home. Billy was loved by all who knew him as he never met a stranger and was always humble and kind to all.
