Beverly J. Starkey passed on to be with the Lord on August 20, 2019. She was born in Schenetady, NY on July 30, 1929, the second of four daughters to Henry and Blanche(Orlop) Furness. She was retired from Auto Convoy where she was an Executive Secretary to Henry Exall from 1960 to1985. She also retired from Starkey Service Center, the family automotive repair business.
She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church Oak Cliff since about 1991 and prior to that, she was a member of Polk Street Baptist Church.
She worked at General Electric in New York and married George W. Starkey, Jr. on November 20, 1949. Beverly was married for 66 years when George passed away on May 26, 2016. Her son David passed away on November 2, 2018.
She is survived by 3 children; Rodney Starkey, Debra Starkey and Susan Starkey, all residing in Dallas. Beverly went peacefully with her daughters, praying, crying and laughing. Telling stories about family and playing music, at home where the children took care of her.
Her neighbors called her the Energizer Bunny because she kept going and going. She loved traveling with George in the R.V. She loved family and Church. and always offered you food or something to drink when you came to visit.
She was a Big Strong Woman of Faith even though she was only 4'11. She loved to pray with Susan and for others and because of her prayers we are all walking miracles as her children. I loved to hear her tell me stories about hard times because her and Dad always stuck it out and became winners!
Mom and Dad helped me to get through my only son's passing in 2004. I started hanging close to them and doing what I could for them. They were both such a Big Blessing many precious memories.
We are so grateful to God for the many who helped us for the past three years. that Little Mama was in Hospice Care. Thank You, Randi Kay Starkey who gave us great advice and hookups
for Hospice Care. We also thank Encompass Hospice and personally thank Laurelle, Mom's nurse who went above and beyond. Sue T and Josie, who were wonderful caretakers and helped us, my sister and I, to be able to continue working and keep taking care of Mom at home until she went to be with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior and all of our loved ones who have gone on before her. She out-lived many.
We will definitely miss our precious little Mama, but we aren't grieving as if we have no hope. We know she is shouting on the streets of gold, hugging and reminiscing with loved ones and praising God at that Big Homecoming in the sky.
