Beverly Mae Cox, a long-time resident of Garland, Texas was taken to be with her Lord and Savior on February the 28th 2020. She enjoyed 92 plus years under God’s grace on earth. Born March 5, 1927 in Tilton Illinois to Estle Oscar and Elsie Elizabeth Wakeland. Beverly grew up in Westville, Illinois where she was the oldest of four children. On September 3rd 1949 she married the Love of her life, Robert Max Cox of Bradford Arkansas in Champaign Illinois. They were blessed with 67 years of marriage.
The Lord blessed her with two children Robert Dennis Cox and Teresa Ann (Cox) Patterson. Beverly is preceded in death by her husband (Bob) parents Estle and Elsie Wakeland, Second Mother Theresa Wakeland, two brothers Tom Wakeland and Richard Wakeland.
Beverly is survived by, (son) Robert and wife Bobbie Jo, (daughter) Teresa and husband Dorrance, (sister) Karen Richter, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Beverly was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She and Bob traveled for 23 years supporting the armed services and also during his employment with LTV (Vought Aircraft). Beverly loved her volunteer work at church, American Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels, Food Pantry and other organizations close to her heart. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, reading, needle point and getting together with all her dear friends for their monthly Keno Club. Her proudest and greatest enjoyment was being “Memaw”. Beverly loved as much as she was loved but most of all she will be remembered for her abiding faith in Jesus Christ and her infectious smile and laughter.
A memorial service will be held at Divine Peace Church, 1346 Pleasant Valley Rd., Garland, Texas 75040 - time and date to be determined.
Inurnment will be at the DFW National Cemetery on May 8, 2020 at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, Beverly requests that any memorial contributions be made to Divine Peace Church Building Fund.
