Betty Brown departs her earthly home for her heavenly home at 92 years old, leaving behind a deep legacy as a woman whose life touched many. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, affectionately known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Mom Brown". With a great love for her family, dogs, hamburgers and golf. Betty was a woman of deep kindness and sweetness, with a playful joy about her always. She was a faithful and loving friend and a servant to her family with great trust in the Lord, longing for the day in which she would see him face to face. She loved her husband, Dave Brown, and was faithfully devoted to him for over fifty years of marriage. The saying is true of Betty - to know her is to love her - all who encountered her were immediately drawn to Betty's beauty, warmth, compassion, charm, self-deprecating humor, and her kind and gentle spirit. A Highland Park High School graduate, she went on to become a Kappa Kappa Gamma at SMU and was the very definition of a graceful and whimsical woman. Near the end of her life she reflected on her family whom she loved dearly, her faith, and the many friends she cherished, never leaving the house, even in her final days, without her trademark red lipstick. She is preceded in death by her parents J.R. and KathLane Logsdon Chaney, her husband J. David Brown, her sisters Jane Ritter and Pat Stephens and brother Jack Chaney. She will be forever treasured and missed and is survived by her three children, Betsy Nelson, David Brown, and Jill Nall, and two loving sons-in-law, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren from all over the country. The family extends their thanks to her caregiver, Marie Sterling, and the staff at Caruth Haven Court for Mom's excellent care. Memorials may go to the attention of the mission office, the general operating fund, the TRANSFORM building campaign, the Hillier School or HPPC Day School, all at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd, Dallas,TX 75205. A graveside service for Betty will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 11AM at Sparkman Hillcrest, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225.
