She was born in October 1932 to Jesús Moreno and Junita Flores, in Elgin, Texas. The daughter of a farmer, she spent much of her early life in rural Ellis County - where she met her husband, Bonifacio. The couple had two children, Rudy and Johnny. They relocated to southern Dallas County in 1962, where Betsy’s rural upbringing led to her work in horticulture - just one of the few industries she would work in, including electronics and sales.
Beyond her career, Betsy loved dancing to live Tejano music, taking road trips, and watching law enforcement primetime dramas, all in the company of family and friends. When at home, she loved cooking ‘a little something’ for anyone who walked through her door - one of her first questions being, “did you eat?” She had a sharp wit and loved to laugh around a kitchen table, especially over sweets. She was always dressed her best, not knowing where her sense of adventure would take her any day. She will always be remembered by her family as the vibrant, strong, and wise matriarch of the family with a joie de vivre that lit up any room.
She was predeceased by her parents, eleven siblings, her husband, and her son, Johnny. She is survived by her son, Rudy (Cecilia), her grandsons, Felipe and Joseph, and a large, loving, extended family that cherished their time with her all the way through her final days. Though she will be missed dearly, the love she gave to others will never fade, and those she touched will never forget her.
