Mrs. Bertha Mae Fuller

Bertha Mae Fuller was born February 8, 1940, in Marshall, Texas, to Conner Williams and Lucille Jernigan. She received her education from Lincoln School, and she joined the workforce as a young adult. Bertha was a domestic worker for private homes and schools. Bertha met and fell in love with Hoyt Milford Fuller, and on May 17, 1963 they were united in holy matrimony. Upon marrying Hoyt, Bertha was able to leave the workforce, and her focus became the care and raising of their six children. Bertha was known by many nicknames such as “Knuck” and “Butter,” and she was also known for her talents when it came to playing cards. Bertha was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. In the evening hours of Sunday, March 26, 2017, Bertha Mae Fuller received her new body and eyesight as she transitioned to her new home. Upon arrival, Bertha was welcomed home by her parents, Conner Williams and Lucille Jernigan; one sister, Margie Evonne Johnson; one brother, Robert Lee Patton; and her beloved only son, Dera “Derrell” Lumont Williams. Bertha is survived by her husband of 53 years, Hoyt Fuller; three daughters, Debra Williams, Shorletta Fuller, and Shotsie Fuller; two extended-daughters, Sharon Fuller and Janet Hurns; two sisters, Vera Walker and Virginia Weatherall; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two special sisters, Joan Adams and Bobbie Nichols; plus a wonderful host of additional relatives and friends.
