Bertha Donnelly

Bertha Joseph Donnelly, 86, died after a courageous battle with cancer on October 8, 2012 at her home in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by loved ones. In spite of all her challenges, she put everyone else first.

She was born on October 15, 1925 in Manor, Texas, and graduated from Austin High School. While Bertha was a stellar and dedicated employee at Sears for most of her working career, she continued to meet the demands of her young daughters and then her young grandchildren. She was loved by all who knew her, but especially by her children and their children, who celebrated any excuse to be together. Bertha enjoyed baking and trying new recipes, and sharing everything she made. All her life, she loved movies and soap operas. Even in her final days, she rarely missed “The Young and the Restless” at 11:30.

In heaven, Bertha joins the angels and her husband, “Don” Donnelly; her parents, Fred and Bannoot Joseph; her sisters Linda Joseph and Minnie Garza; her brother William Joseph; and her grandchildren Callie and Alex.

Bertha is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Joseph and Bessie Debo; her four daughters, Kathy Havey, Janice Davis, Denise Janick (Richard Janick), and Joan de Sosa (David de Sosa); her grandchildren, Christopher Cockroft, Matt Janick, Lauren Davis, Lynn Janick Sladek, Graham Taylor, Jenna Taylor, and Dylan de Sosa; her step grandchildren, Amber de Sosa Seber and Bryan de Sosa; her great grandson, Braxton Donnelly Sladek.

Rosary is 7:00 pm Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in the Chapel of Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home, 10501 Garland Road, Dallas, Texas. Family will receive friends at 6:00 pm, prior to the rosary.

The Funeral Mass will be 11:30 am thursday, October 11, 2012 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3030 Gus Thomasson Road, Dallas, Texas. Rev. Michael Guadagnoli, Celebrant.

Interment to follow the Mass at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3237 Lombardy Land, Dallas, Texas.
