Bernedette Montuori, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023. She will always be remembered as a loving friend to all that knew her. She was born on October 9, 1929, in Oklahoma City. Her father was Bertrand Whitehead, and her mother Julia Marie Edwards. Her older sister was Mary Cecilia Acherschott. Bernedette graduated from high school at Ursuline Academy in Dallas, Texas. She received her college degree in 1950 from Southern Methodist University where she learned her craft as an actress. Her mentor was Margot Jones. Bernedette loved the stage but was also in film. She married Monty Montuori in 1959. For her “day job” she worked for Braniff Airways which helped her and Monty fulfill their wanderlust for travel. In her retirement, she loved needlepoint, as well as making doll houses for which she won an award at the State Fair of Texas. In 2014, she wrote her memoir. She and Monty were lovers of animals and would provide a home to dogs in need. Bernedette is survived by her step-daughter, Rose Marie Montuori Gonick; her second cousin once removed, Karin Gibson; and her goddaughter, Kimberley Steiner. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and her husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dallas SPCA.
A visitation for Bernedette will begin at 9:00 AM followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 AM at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225. Burial to follow.
