Beatrice Rosalind Kaplan was born on January 25, 1927 in Atlanta, Georgia to Lena and Nathan Kaplan. Beedie met Harry Shapiro and married him in 1945 moving with him to San Saba, Texas. She, the “Georgia Peach”, and he, the “Texas Cowboy”; together, began Harry’s Department Store while raising their three children, Francene, Howard and Edward. Fondest memories of those days were spent at their lake house at Lake LBJ, their ranch in the Hill Country, and in Austin with his brother Morris, sister- in- law, Elaine and their 4 sons. Francene raised her daughter, Erica, in Houston. Howard and his wife, Florence, raised their 3 children in Plano, Edward and his wife, Mari, raised their 3 children in Colorado.
Harry Shapiro passed away unexpectedly in 1982 in San Saba. After running the family business for 5 years, Beedie decided it was time to move to Dallas.
Shortly after her move, Beedie met and fell in love with the second love of her life, Adolph Teitelbaum . Beedie always said she was lucky enough to marry two wonderful men in one lifetime! Together, Beedie and Adolph traveled and studied extensively. But most of all, they just loved life together.
Beedie brought joy and happiness to all who knew her. Her infectious smile and her desire to know all about you and your life, endeared her to everyone. Her grace and style was such a reflection of the Southern Belle charm that we so admired. She cherished friendships and the love that they bring. But nothing brought her more pleasure and happiness than her 13 great grandchildren . She would light up at just the slightest mention of them and when in her arms…she was elated!
Beedie embraced life. She loved her Judiasm, she loved to travel, she loved to play bridge, she loved all of her friends at the Legacy- Beedie always saw “the glass half full” not “half empty”.
Beedie passed away on April 1, 2015 after a short illness, surrounded by the family who loved and cherished her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Shapiro. She leaves her husband, Adolph Teitelbaum, her children, Francene Shapiro, Howard and Florence Shapiro, Edward and Mari Shapiro. Beedie leaves behind her 7 grandchildren, Lisa (Brian) Strauss, Todd (Jori) Shapiro, Staci (Paul) Rubin, Erica (Paul) Gosline, Eli Shapiro, Emily Shapiro and Evann Shapiro. She will be greatly missed by her 13 great-grandchildren: Joshua, Noa & Ari Strauss; Ella, Zach, Olivia & Harper Shapiro; Sam, Natalie, Sophie, Eli & Brody Rubin; Carly Gosline.
