Barbara Mae Burk Ware was born on November 9, 1939, in Van Alstyne, Texas to Donnie and Alice Burk. On November 16, 2023, at the age of 84 and after a lengthy battle with dementia, she met her Lord and Savior with open arms.
She graduated in 1957 from South Oak Cliff High School and shortly afterward, began working at White's Floral. Barbara always told Martha, the owner, this was her "dream job."
On October 11, 1958, Barbara married the love of her life, Kent Ware and they welcomed three daughters- Rhonda, Dalinda, and Debbie. They lived in Dallas for seven years, moving to Duncanville in 1965 and later to Midlothian.
Barbara was a go getter. After raising the girls, she went on to work at multiple places including Methodist Hospital, several physician offices and finally, AAFES. In 2010, after 30 years and many awards recognizing her for outstanding achievement, Barbara realized it was time to retire.
For the next two years, Barbara cared for Kent, celebrating 52 1/2 years of marriage at the time of his passing.
Barbara shared memories of her love for travel, but a highlight was when she and Kent traveled to El Salvador (1973 and 1975) with their Bethel Temple family. She loved to vacation in Red River, New Mexico as well as traveling to Alaska, New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Jamaica. In 2000, Barbara and Kent embarked on their first cruise and loved every moment.
The grandkids would say, MeMe would take us anywhere and that she did. It didn't matter when, where, time of day-if they said Let's Go! MeMe would say, Alright! Where are we going? and off they went.
Barbara was preceded in death by her dear husband, Kent; parents, Donnie and Alice, stepfather, Bob Cheeves; and sister-in-law, Brenda Burk.
She is survived by little brother, Ronnie (Theresa) Burk; three children: Rhonda (Kirk) Stanley, Dalinda (Jeff) Seguin and Debbie Trester; seven grandchildren: Chris (Madison) Chamberlain, Chad (Sheila) Chamberlain, Brad Seguin, Shelly (Jeremy) O'Neal, Josh Cline, Justin Blacker and Chance Jones; seven great grandchildren: Zoe Seguin, Colton Blacker, Bryce Blacker, Allie Blacker, Kennedy O'Neal, Cooper Hayes O'Neal and Hayes Chamberlain; and many treasured friends.
