Art was 79 years old, born on February 14, 1943, in Buffalo, New York, to, C. Arthur and Charity G. Roberts. He was raised in Williamsville, New York, a suburb of Buffalo, where he graduated The Park School of Buffalo. He also was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island.
He married Margaret “Marnee” Bliss in 1967. In 1978 they moved to Texas and in 1979 settled in Plano to raise their family. Art coached his children’s soccer teams, operated his own pool construction and service business, and volunteered his time on the board of the Plano Youth Soccer Association.
He was an avid model train collector, meticulously rehabbed and built model trains for customers and for pleasure. Art was an author and avid reader, supporter of the Museum of the American Railroad, in Frisco, TX, formerly the Age of Steam Museum at Dallas Fair Park. He spent much of his time volunteering with his friends in the Dallas Summer Musicals Guild.
His family and friends will always remember him as a man of strong values & integrity, a firm handshake, encouragement, honesty, and kindness. A life-long learner and teacher.
Art is preceded in death by his parents and his former wife, Marnee.
He is survived and missed by his daughters Kimberly Roberts of Plano, Kelly Giessner (Greg) of Grand Prairie, his son Colin Roberts (Heather) of Plano, as well as grandchildren, Jake Giessner, Will Giessner, Jack Roberts, Macey Roberts, and his sister, Sarah Strouss.
Art’s life will be celebrated with private services for family and friends.
