Antonio "Tony" Perez Santoyo, age 77, passed away on January 18, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on September 24, 1945, in Dallas to Antonio Santoyo and Narcisa Perez. Tony was raised in Dallas and attended Crozier Tech High School. He lived a full life, always putting his family first and making sure they were taken care of. He was a devoted grandfather, who loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren, taking them on fun outings to places like Braums for ice cream or Dairy Queen for chicken fingers and fries. His grandchildren have countless fond memories of their time with him, including yearly visits to the State Fair of Texas and Fort Worth Stockyards and Rodeo.
Tony also had a passion for riding his Harley-Davidson Fat Boy, taking regular Saturday morning rides with other bikers. He would even occasionally start it up in the driveway just to startle a grandkid. Despite his love for his hobbies, Tony never lost sight of his own children and continued to offer help and guidance, whether it was for carpentry projects around their houses or direction in life decisions. His life was his kids and their kids.
His family will always remember him as a provider and lifelong fighter. He faced many challenges in his life, but he persevered and never gave anything more than a passing thought of quitting. He was a strong and determined man who always put his loved ones first.
Others who knew him will always remember him as a faithful friend. He was a loyal and trustworthy companion who always had a kind word and a listening ear. He was a trusted and loyal friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father Antonio Santoyo, his mother Narcisa Perez, his brother Margarito Santoyo, his sister Mary Tuxhorn, and son Antonio D. Santoyo Jr.
He is survived by his children: Rosemarie Santoyo, R. David Santoyo and wife Sandra, Angela A. Santoyo, John S. Santoyo and wife Rhonda, and Joseph D. Santoyo. His grandchildren are Sarah Santoyo Lopez and husband Anthony, Emily Hernandez, Emma Santoyo, Antonio Santoyo IV, Steven Santoyo, Juliana Santoyo Cortez, Elijah Santoyo and Jack Santoyo. His great-grandchildren are Sofia, Mason, Mia, Amaya, and Baby Lopez. His siblings are Valentina Aceves, Josephine Rushing, Catherine Harris, Terry Payne, Angela Keene, Henry Santoyo, Paula Santoyo and Mack Santoyo, and half-sister, Antonia Santoyo Felix from California.
Of note, Tony was a steadfast fan of the Texas Rangers, until it was revealed late in the 2000’s that he actually cheered for the Angels. Given his love of California, this was forgiven. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and all the lives he touched through his kindness, generosity, and devotion.
