Anthony “Tony” Gentry Riddlesperger was born on August 14, 1932 in Corsicana, TX to Hobart Clark and Aline Gentry Riddlesperger. He passed away on August 7, 2014 in Dallas, TX. He attended Highland Park Schools and graduated from Brown Military Academy in San Diego, CA. He received both BA and JD degrees from Baylor University. He served 2 years in the USAF on the Judge Advocate General’s staff.
Following his service with the military, he was employed as a staff attorney with Gulf Oil Corporation in Houston, TX. Following his employment with Superior Oil he was a partner in the law firm of Jones, Stephens, Bell and Willey. In 1976 he accepted a position in Dallas as Vice President and Chief Counsel of Grace Energy Corporation and remained with Grace for 34 years.
He is survived by his wife Jane Johnston Riddlesperger, and sons John and Dan Riddlesperger; sister in law Katherine Hawthorne and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Dallas, Houston and American Bar Associations; the Association of Attorney Mediators Inc.; the Panel of Commercial Arbitrators and the American Arbitration Association.
Following an appointment by Governor Clements, he served 10 years on the legal Committee of the Interstate Oil Compact Commission. He also was a member of the Board of Directors of the Business Law Foundation. He was President of the Thomas J. Rusk Chapter of the Sons of the Republic of Texas and also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a founding Elder of Grace Presbyterian Church in Houston and a founding member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas.
A Graveside Service will be in Waco, TX at Oakwood Cemetery, 2124 S. 5th St., Waco, TX on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 10:30 am followed by a Memorial Service in Dallas at Sparkman/Hillcrest Chapel East, 7405 W.
