Anthony Taylor Gurley was born on April 1, 1973 in Dallas, Texas to Taylor Calvin Gurley and JoAnn Jackson Gurley. Anthony's family moved to Grand Prairie, Texas in 1976 where he attended Sam Rayburn Elementary School, Jackson Middle School and graduated from South Grand Prairie High School. At an early age, he immersed himself in activities like soccer, gymnastics, track and band. In high school, he was nominated as Who's Who in America, the first African American Drum Major in band and also won several city and state music competitions. Anthony continued his education at San Antonio College and Mountain View College. As an adult, Anthony continued to be active in community events where he became a member of Cheer Dallas. He participated in various charities that include HIV/AIDS research, Toys 4 Tots, Bryan's House among others. He was known as “Celie” by his friends and known to be fun loving, a true spirit and gentle soul. He left to mourn his passing, his mother JoAnn Gurley, his sister Trasa R. Gurley and his brothers Christopher A. Gurley and Robby L. Gurley and a host of family and friends.
