Annie Marie Davis was born to the marital union of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jessie and Earlene Davis on November 8, 1948. She was the maternal granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Seabron and Alvaina Simmons, and the paternal granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John and Beatrice Davis. Annie Marie lived in the home of her maternal grandparents until she completed high school. Her beautiful parents lived only across the street, with whom she had daily contact and loved, yet by choice, Annie gravitated towards her grandparents. In 1968, Annie Marie was married to Mr. Charles Walton.
Annie Marie confessed Christ at age 11 and united with Mt. Haven Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, Texas. Annie Marie served as church musician intermittently for many years for her home church and other churches as well. In the late 1980s, Annie Marie joined Knight Chapel A.M.E. Church in Dallas, Texas, where she served as Church Secretary and worked with the youth department. In January of 2000, Annie Marie united with Christian Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Dallas, Texas, under the leadership of Dr. Jerome McNeil, and has remained a member.
Annie Marie graduated from Fred Douglas High School in Jacksonville, Texas. In 1966, she furthered her education at Tyler Junior College and the University of Texas Dallas.
Annie’s work experience began by picking peaches, being a secretary at Rusk State Hospital, and ended her corporate career as being a Data Entry Supervisor for a subdivision of US Homeland Security for almost one decade. Annie Marie worked as a substitute teacher in the Mesquite Independent School District during her retirement years. Her goal was to encourage students, and to inspire excellence and greatness in all the students she met, helping others and feeding the homeless.
