September 8, 1924- February 14, 2023
Born September 8, 1924 - Called home to be with the Lord on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2023 at the age of 98.
Born with her twin brother, John Taylor Fort at home on Lindsley Ave. in Dallas, Texas to Tandy Irwin Fort and Anna Robinson Fort.
Lifelong Dallas resident and graduate of O.M. Roberts Elementary, J.L. Long Jr. High, and Woodrow Wilson High School, class of ‘42.
After graduating from High School, Anna worked for Columbia Pictures, the Internal Revenue Service, Meletio Electrical Supply Co., and Dr. Pepper Co. in bookkeeping roles. While at Dr. Pepper Co., she modeled for the cover of the magazine with her nephew Donnie. This is one of the most loved memories and keepsakes for our family.
From here, she began working for American Liberty Oil, Co. where she spent the next 11 years making lifelong friends, marrying, and starting her family. After her children were born, she spent her time as a homemaker until they began school. Her last job, that she held the longest was at Beach Sheet Metal where she worked as the Office Manager for 23 years until retiring.
She was a member of Northlake Baptist Church for 60 years where she served for 40 years teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and singing in the choir. She loved her church and has passed that legacy to her family. Growing up, she was a member of East Grand Baptist Church where she was saved and baptized.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. Her greatest treasure in life was to be surrounded by family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Willard Bryce Smith, her twin brother, John Taylor Fort, her older brother, Paul Fort, her sisters Ina Mae Ferguson, Elva Darby, her mother Anna Robinson Fort, her father Tandy Irwin Fort, and her beloved son, Steven Bryce Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Janis Kay Jeffcoat, son-in-law James Randolph Jeffcoat, granddaughters, Jennifer Kathryne Amburn, Jillian Kay Bryant, grandsons-in-law Tyler Chase Amburn, Stephen Alexander Bryant, great grandsons, Clark Ryan Amburn, Buck Alexander Bryant, and two more great grandchildren on the way.
