Anna Marie Marino, a beloved mother, passed away on December 13, 2023 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on February 21,1936 in Bryan, Texas to Frank and Rosie Marino. She grew up with her two older brothers, John and Joe, and enjoyed life on their farm. She moved to Dallas in 1956 with her new husband, Tony Salvaggio, where they raised two daughters together and where she spent the rest of her life.
Anna worked as an administrative assistant for companies in several industries for all of her working life, beginning with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas when she moved to Dallas, and ending with Electronic Data Systems in Plano. She took a break from the business world for 20 years to absolutely excel as a mother in every sense of the word. Birthdays and holidays were made exceptional due to Anna’s tireless efforts to make everything magical for her family. When her grandchildren started to arrive, Anna lavished them with love, attention, and the priceless gift of her time in the form of babysitting, getting-down-on-the-floor-and-playing, and just plain listening. She nurtured each child’s passions while they were growing up, cheering them on from grade school to college to marriage and beyond.
Anna had a beautiful soprano voice, singing solos and ensemble for her church choir. She was also a gifted artist, able to create and draw cartoons as well as draw and paint in oils, acrylics, and pastels. She was an excellent seamstress and made many of her daughters’ outfits. She even sewed entire wardrobes for their Barbie dolls! Travel was a passion of hers as well, with Ireland and England being favorites of hers.
Anna was an excellent cook. School lunches included sandwiches on homemade bread and wonderful sweet treats, from cookies to candies and cakes. Her pie crusts were perfection, making her pies special birthday and holiday requests from relatives and friends alike. True to her Italian heritage, Anna’s meatballs and pasta (Sunday) sauce were outstanding and authentic. Her recipes live on, not only with her daughters but also with her grandchildren, who each have put their own spin on her Italian classics.
She is survived by her two daughters, Annette Pipes (Steven)and Rosemarie DeTrempe (Peter); her four grandchildren, Andrew DeTrempe (Carly), Philip DeTrempe (Andrea), Cameron Pipes (Stephanie), Elizabeth Kuchler (James) and her great-grandson, Peter DeTrempe; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to The Legacy Senior Communities Foundation.
