Ann was born on March 30, 1961 to Gerald and Irma (Labrum) White in Murray, Utah and grew up in the Salt Lake Valley area. She was the baby of the family, but had a close relationship with each of her siblings even being several years younger than them. Ann also deeply cherished all her many nieces and nephews. She often spoke fondly of growing up babysitting and visiting them for holidays and family events.
Ann met the love of her life, Dean Pearson, at the University of Utah in 1980. Ann and Dean had that rare, beautiful connection that love songs are written about. They were not only spouses but best friends, and loved being together even through life’s most difficult moments. They were married on June 24, 1983 and spent nearly 40 years finishing each other’s sentences. In 1986 they added daughter Sara and in 1991 son Michael to their family, raising them with the same level of love, compassion and playfulness that they always showed to each other.
Ann was not only a mother of two. Over the years she “adopted” several of her children’s friends, opening her home and her heart to whoever needed a mom to love and accept them as they were. She was proud to consider each of them her kids.
We will remember Ann for her sharp wit, engaging conversations, her lifelong love of reading and learning, her impressive vocabulary and ability to find the humor in any situation. We will also remember her lovely singing voice, infectious laugh and warm hugs that she would give for as long as you needed them. She was our friend, mother, and trusted confidant. Ann taught us the value of patience, perseverance and kindness, even in the face of unrelenting hardship. She left the world a little bit softer, a little bit more full of love than she found it.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, oldest sister Margaret North and sister-in-law Nadine White. She is survived by her husband Dean, children Sara (Mitchell) Pearson and Michael Pearson, her siblings Robert (Nadine, deceased) White, Kenneth (Donna) White, Marian (Gordon) Harman and siblings-in-law David (Margaret, deceased) North, Eric (Christin) Pearson, Paul (Michelle) Pearson, Erin (Glenn) Norberg, and Vu (Catherine) Pearson. She is further survived by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family members who she loved dearly.
A memorial gathering will take place on June 24, 2023 in West Jordan, Utah where family and friends will be invited to come together and celebrate Ann’s life. In lieu of flowers, it was Ann’s wish that if her family and friends desired to honor her memory with a gift or charitable act, that they sign up to become an organ donor if they were not already, and/or choose a cause close to their heart to contribute to.
