Andrew Robert Moore 70, was born the son of the late Griff and Lillie Smith on July 15, 1944. He was the youngest of two children. Andrew made his transition to Glory on Thursday, March 12, 2015.
He was a product of Ferris ISD where he graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in 1962. He was a star basketball player, stellar saxophonist, as well as, valedictorian of his class. He served four years in the United States Airforce and earned an associates degree from Mountain View Community College. He was an outstanding businessman and entrepreneur. He held leadership positions at several major companies and owned a catering business. Andrew was an excellent provider and made sure his family always had the “best” of everything.
Andrew was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger. He loved to cook and entertain. Andrew was also an avid traveler; he particularly enjoyed international travel. Many sought his expertise and advice. He always set high standards for himself, as well as his colleagues, family, and friends. He was baptized into the body of Christ as a young adult and served faithfully at the Cherry Valley Church of Christ for many years.
Andrew met the love of his life while still in high school. He and JoAnn Taylor Moore were married on June 12, 1965 and would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. Three children, Yolanda, Rodney, and Keishla were born to this union. Andrew’s family meant EVERYTHING to him.
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Billie Joe Moore Mathis.
He leaves to cherish his legacy of memories: A loving wife of 49 years, JoAnn and three children: Yolanda Anderson, Rodney Moore, Keishla Coleman (Greg) 4 grandchildren: Andrew Taylor Anderson, Rhaney Marjorie Moore, Kyndall Alexandria Coleman, Trinity Ladore Moore, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
