Alterry "Jay" Hernandez

Alterry "Jay" Hernandez, 57 passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022 in Dallas, Texas. He was born February 20, 1965 in Dallas, Texas to Alfonso M. Hernandez and Teresa R. Hernandez. Jay graduated from North Dallas High School in 1982.

He served as a supervisor at Resource Flooring where he worked for more than twenty-five years. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling and would do so as often as possible. He especially enjoyed fishing and cooking out frequently. He also loved and supported the Dallas Cowboys.

His family and friends will always remember him as a being a lively, outspoken, direct, hard working man that was also giving and enjoyed helping others.

Mr. Hernandez was preceded in death by his father, Alfonso M. Hernandez; grandmother, Nora Reyes; uncle, Armando Reyes; and his nephew, Steve Hernandez. He was survived by his mother, Teresa Hernandez; sister, Janie Hernandez and her husband, Steven Velasquez; brother, Alfonso Hernandez, Jr. and his wife, Maria; brother, Steve "Porky" Hernandez; sister, Josie Hernandez and her husband, Jose Favela; brother, Paul and his wife, Carolyn Hernandez; step-sisters, Pauline Hernandez, Rita Hernandez; uncles, Gilbert Reyes, Jesse Reyes, Joe Reyes; aunts, Dolores Reyes, Lupe Reyes along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation for Jay will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home and Crematory, 3050 N STEMMONS FWY, DALLAS, TX 75247. A funeral service will occur Friday, November 18, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 3050 N STEMMONS FWY, DALLAS, TX 75247. An interment will occur Friday, November 18, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220.
