Allison went to be with her Lord and Savior July 31, 2020. She passed away peacefully after a short illness. Allison was born April 24, 1936, in Huntington, WV. The family moved to Dallas, TX, when Allison was 3 years old. Allison attended Highland Park Schools graduating in December of 1954. She then attended Southern Methodist University for two years where she was initiated by Pi Beta Phi Fraternity. She graduated from Hollins College in 1958 with a Spanish Major and French Minor. During Allison’s senior year she traveled between Dallas and Roanoke, VA, to be an Idlewild Club debutante during the 1958 season. In January of 1959, on a blind date, Allison met and fell in love with Allan. She then remained in Richmond, VA to teach school for a short time. Allison returned to Dallas in 1959, Allan soon followed.
Allison and Allan were married on May 20, 1961. Allison taught school at St Monica’s Catholic School and The Hockaday School until the arrival of her first child. While raising children, Allison stayed busy with the Parent Teacher Associations of the schools her children attended, founding the PTA at The Lamplighter School and serving as President of the Robert S. Hyer Elementary School PTA. Allison shared an entrepreneurial spirit with her father. She and Nadine Hankinson started a business called H & H designs wherein they supplied six golf club pro shops with ladies sportswear. From sportswear, the pair moved to the design and sewing of appliquéd clothing. Soon after, she started a hand knitted sweater business with Kay Strother and Mary Johnston Northern called Melange IV. Finally, she managed estate sales in north Dallas.
Allison was a lifelong member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, a member of the Dallas Woman’s Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Once Allan and Allison’s grandchildren arrived, they became the focus. She loved spending time with them, attending sporting events and school activities. The couple enjoyed spending time in Cabo San Lucas whenever they could.
Allison was preceded in death by her parents Allison Gordon Galt and Virginia Kathleen Underwood Galt. Allison is survived by her loving husband Allan W. Hall, her son Brandon and his wife Shannon with children Thomas and Grady (Southlake, TX); her daughter Kathy Murphy and her husband Brett with children Allie and Annie (Tulsa, OK); her faithful guard dog Jenny; and her sister Barbara Meadows with children Michelle and Clayton. Allison had too many friends to mention and she loved them all dearly.
