Albert Ray Turner passed away on November 7, 2022 in Plano, Texas at 88 years old. He was born on March 24, 1934 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Frances and Waldo Turner. Ray was raised in Springdale, Arkansas and graduated Springdale High School in 1952. He later went on to serve as a radio operator in England in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957. Ray married Freida Ownby in 1959 and together they raised 2 sons.
He worked as an electronics technician and inspector for the Federal Communications Commission, where he worked for over 40 years. After his retirement, Ray continued to consult for the Texas Association of Broadcasters. Ray was an enthusiast of cars, motorcycles and boats. You could often find Ray spending time with his grandchildren, traveling to places like Branson or Gatlinburg, and listening to his favorite country and gospel music.
Friends and family will remember him as a hardworking, sincere and honest man who loved the Lord and lived his life accordingly. If something needed fixing, Ray was the person you would consult. He always had a solution in mind and loved to use his skills to help others when he could.
Ray is preceded in death by his wife Freida Turner of Denison, Texas; mother Frances Meyer of Grove, Oklahoma; stepfather John Meyer of Grove, Oklahoma; and Father Waldo Emerson Turner of Van Buren, Arkansas.
He is survived by his sons Mark Turner (Norman, Oklahoma) and wife Cindy, Steven Turner (Plano, Texas) and wife Danna; brother Roy Turner (Little Rock, Arkansas) and wife Harriett; grandchildren Brandon Jones (Jacksonville, Florida), Lauren Keohane (New York, New York), Russell Turner (Norman, Oklahoma), Elizabeth Turner (Plano, Texas), and Graham Turner (Plano, Texas); great grandchildren Taylor and Teagan Jones (Jacksonville, Florida); sister in law Paula Clearfield (Greenville, Texas) and husband Richard; brother in law Mike Ownby (Garland, Texas) and wife Tommie; 5 nephews and 1 niece as well as many loving friends and extended family.
