Al began his career the day after high school graduation learning the food service equipment industry from the ground up. A creative and driven designer of hotel and restaurant kitchens, known internationally for his talent to translate the needs of top chefs and create a kitchen that was not only functional but was a true stainless steel work of art. Al was a supreme salesperson. He loved people and he loved his work. He was a natural at it and was characterized as the “Godfather of stainless steel.” Hundreds of professionals in the industry launched their careers during their tenure at companies he founded and managed, Fabricators, Food Service Concepts and Alliance Food Equipment. Throughout his entire career he always had a bid to do and a call to make. A quiet unspoken hero, not many outside the industry knew of the significant impact he had on it. Seven days a week his greatest joy was designing and fabricating kitchens for the hospitality industry.
Al loved to laugh and spend time with family and friends. In his younger years he spent time with his family at the lake on the boats he loved. He enjoyed travel, golf and stylish dress. His family was blessed with his unconditional love and support.
The family will have a private burial at Sparkman-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
