Adelpha Elaine Lozano Rodriguez, age 72, passed away in Dallas, Texas, on July 17, 2023. She was born on August 4, 1950, in Dallas, Texas, to Adolph Lozano and Pilar Gutierrez Lozano. Family and friends lovingly nicknamed her several times throughout her life. Known as Elaine, Delpha, Sunny, or Lainey, she was raised in Irving, Texas, where she was a student at St. Luke's Catholic School until her junior year of high school when she attended and graduated from MacArthur High School, class of 1968.
She was a tough woman raising her only child alone while always working multiple jobs. The City of Grand Prairie, the State of Texas, Sheplers, Mary Kay, Traders Village, and Lone Star Park were just a few of her employers. She retired from UT Southwestern in 2009 as a billing specialist, though she never gave up extra jobs, including dog sitting.
Elaine loved to be on the go and was an active member of the Catholic Church throughout her life. Whether attending mass, thrift store shopping, traveling the world, attending musicals and stage plays, dancing, cooking, reading, or caring for her precious dogs, she created a fulfilling life during retirement. She loved fountain drinks, especially Big Red and Dr. Pepper, along with her favorite food, tamales. Her favorite coffee drink was a caramel frappuccino, regardless of the time of day. Every night she enjoyed browsing TikTok in search of recipes and animal videos and watching her favorite television programs. She volunteered at the State Fair of Texas and the Dallas Christmas Parade for many years.
Elaine was a lady with a beautiful soul and a proud mother who loved her son more than anyone on the planet. She was a loyal friend, a godmother who showed unconditional love, and a caring relative. Her family will never forget her incredible smile and cherish their beautiful memories together. Words cannot express how much she will be dearly missed.
She leaves behind her son, Marco C. Rodriguez, who will be left to attend the State Fair of Texas without her as it was their yearly tradition for many years. Also, she leaves behind her cousin and the daughter she never had, Leslie (Manolo), her aunt Betty Juanelle Pearson (Bill), her brothers, Adolph Lozano, Rusty (Erin) Lozano, Andy Lozano (Adiana), and sisters, Milagros Lozano, Yelitza Chimal (Manuel), as well as a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, friends, and three treasured dogs, Lexi, Rhett, and Scarlett.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Adoph and Pilar, her beloved grandmother, Pauline C. Lozano, as well as two cherished dogs, Sierra and Chloe.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Adelpha will be held on Tuesday July 25th, 2023 starting at 10am at our North Chapel, located on the northside of the mausoleum at Calvary Hill Cemetery with the interment to follow immediately after the conclusion of mass. The North Chapel will be open at 9:30am.
