He is survived by his three children, Tareq (Tracey) Abdul-Ghani, Noori (Alexandra) Abdul-Ghani and Nadia (Robert) O’Neill, and by his five grandchildren, Cole, Amelia, Jordan, Cora and Erik. He is also survived by his brothers, Abdul-Latif, Abdul-Karim and Abdul-Rahim, his sisters, Azizi, Amni and Safiyah and many nieces and nephews.
Abdul-Ghani was born on January 2, 1946 in Jamma’in, Palestine. He graduated from the American University of Beirut with a degree in English before moving to the United States of America to attend the University of Southern California, where he earned two master’s degrees in Political Science and Linguistics and a PhD in Linguistics.
He married Christina Mary Lehman and moved to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and then Manama, Bahrain, where they raised their family until the first Gulf War. Abdul-Ghani later worked in senior positions in finance, including becoming Head of Investment Banking at Aljazira Capital in Jeddah and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In 2018 he retired and moved to Texas to be closer to his family. He had an unwavering conviction to always do what was right in work and in life, bringing him the respect and friendship of those around him. Abdul-Ghani brought joy and happiness to his family and others and was always willing to have a laugh. He was most happy when entertaining his grandchildren and working on acquiring a small farm.
He was laid to rest in a private ceremony with his family on December 3, 2018.
