Patrick A. Patrick McEvoy, Sr. passed away on October 20, 2014 at the age of 93. Pat was a third generation Dallasite, born on December 1, 1920. He attended Holy Trinity Parochial School, Highland Park High School and was graduated from SMU in 1942 where he was a member and president of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. It was at SMU that he met his wife of 71 years, Joan Saville McEvoy. He was a graduate of the V7 program of the U.S. Naval Reserve, and as a Lieutenant served aboard a minesweeper in the Mediterranean which also escorted convoys across the North Atlantic during World War II. After serving his country he returned to Dallas where he and Joan raised their four children. He was a successful businessman in his chosen profession. He was founder and president of General Aluminum Corporation, and, after its sale in 1978 he contributed to the start of his sons' company, Western Extrusions Corporation where he was Chairman of the Board. He was also past president of the North Texas Arabian Horse Club, Northshore Club, Northwood Club, Sigma Sealed Insulated Glass Manufacturers and Chairman of the Advisory Council at the University of Texas in Arlington. Pat was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, a member of the Serra Club of Dallas and a Knight Commander with Star in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher. He served in the Salesmanship Club of Dallas for over 50 years. He was a longtime member of the Dallas Country Club and Preston Trail Golf Club where he formed many enduring friendships which he treasured. He was a good man, much admired and respected and a great story teller. He enjoyed the pleasure of spending time with his family and raising horses. He loved the out of doors. In recent years, weather permitting, he could be found fishing at Coon Creek Club in Athens, Texas having the time of his life. Pat was preceded in death by his brothers John and William McEvoy and sisters, Lucille Sowden and Genevieve Smith. He is survived by his wife Joan Saville McEvoy, his children Charles S. McEvoy and wife Pat Morgan, Patrick McEvoy, Jr. and wife, Carol, Susan S. McEvoy, M.D. and Clare Brown, eleven grandchildren, six great- grandchildren and much loved and appreciated nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the wonderful caregivers who were so loving and compassionate: Lisa Gray, Johnny Breweh, Dorothy Paris, Brandon Phillips and especially Raul Moreno who became Dad's true friend and companion over the past several years. A memorial service to celebrate Pat's life will be held on Friday, October 24 at 10:00 A.M. at Christ the King Church with a reception to follow at the church.
