Bill a native of Gaston County, was born September 15, 1930 and lived all of his full life north of the town of Dallas. He was the son of the late Samuel Morris Wilson and Leola White Wilson.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving with the 45th Infantry Division during the Korean War from 1951-1953. He retired from Gaston County Dyeing Machine Company after 34 years of service having worked in various capacities. He was an avid gardener and possessed a wide knowledge of farming and horticulture. Bill was a lifelong and faithful member of First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, Gastonia, NC.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Ingle Wilson; son Charles Daniel Wilson and wife, Penny, of Dallas; son William Thomas Wilson of Salisbury; and brother, Donald L. Wilson of Mount Holly.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by sister, Dorothy L. Wilson and brothers, Thomas M. Wilson, John S. Wilson, and James Robert Wilson.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 28 from 6:00 – 8:00p.m. at the Dallas Funeral Home in Dallas.
The funeral will be conducted by Rev. Matthew Kuiken and Dr. Jeff Morrison at First A.R.P. Church, 317 S. Chester Street, Gastonia, NC, 2:00p.m. Wednesday, July 29. Interment will follow at the Philadelphia Lutheran Church cemetery, Dallas, NC. Pallbearers will be: Lawrence Wilson, Benjamin Wilson, Scott Pagan, Richard Greer, Clint Clemmer, Jeff White.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First A.R.P. Church or Hospice of Gaston County.
