Teddy Hampton Brooks

Teddy Hampton Brooks, 70 passed away February 14, 2014. He was born February 20, 1943 in Mecklenburg County to the late Brice Hampton Brooks and Gladys (Clontz) Brooks. Ted was employed at Winston Container Company for over 44 years and served in various leadership roles until he retired as vice president of the company in 2006. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Phalanx Lodge #31, York Rites and the Oasis Shriners International, all of Charlotte, NC. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Dallas for 42 years and served over the years in several capacities.

Ted is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jo Winston Brooks of Dallas, NC; 2 children, Amy Jo Prince (Terry) of Dallas and Christopher Van Brooks (Susan) of Dallas; 3 grandchildren, Benjamin David Shives, Sydney Elizabeth Brooks and Brice Chandler Brooks; sister, Cherry Johnston of Salem, VA; 2 step-grandchildren, Brittany Prince Caldwell (Wes), Haley Prince Breakfield (Alan); 3 step great-grandchildren, Eli Wesley Caldwell, Carly Hope Breakfield and Tucker Grant Caldwell.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Lee Brooks.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, at First United Methodist Church in Dallas. Rev. Caroll Flack will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the church.
