After Sandra graduated from Stanley High School in 1971, she went to work at Pharr Yarns for over 20 years, and then taking care of the elderly for almost 15 years at Peak Resources. In the middle of 1972, Sandra met Raymond Carpenter at Shawney’s Drive in which led to them getting married on July 1, 1973 almost a year later.
Throughout her life, Sandra radiated a warmth that was a beacon for those around her, full of kindness and generosity. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience after a long battle with cancer surrounded by her husband and loved ones.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Raymond Carpenter (73); her children, Barry Carpenter (50) and Brandy Carpenter (44); and her grandchildren, Alexis Deal (25) and husband Brian (26) and Dakotah Nichols (22).
A celebration of life will be held at her church, Promised Land Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC, on Friday August 30, 2024 with the receiving of friends starting at 12:30 pm and the service following at 2 pm. A committal service will follow at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery in Dallas, NC.
