Gary Eugene Brooks

Gary Eugene Brooks, 62, of Dallas, passed away Nov. 29, 2014, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Gaston County on Oct. 18, 1952, son of the late Marvin Clinton Brooks and Ruth Howard Brooks.

He worked in textiles for 30 years with five of those years being at Actavis and 25 years at Ithaca. He served in roles as laborer, supervisor and manager.

Gary leaves his loving wife of 41 years, Bonnie Sue Brooks to cherish his memory. Other surviving members of Gary’s family that are left to cherish his memory are his two sons Gary Brooks Jr. and wife Krisondra and Brian Brooks and significant other Dana Smith; a brother Marvin Brooks Jr. and wife Rene; two sisters: Betty Ballew and husband Keith and Ruth Kelly; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jean and Tony Stribling; grandchildren: Colton, Breahanna, Bethany and Westin Brooks and honorary grandchildren Leilanni Delano and Riley Perkins as well as seven nieces and seven nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Linda Sue Brooks; brother Steve Brooks; sisters Linda Brooks and Mary Cody and a granddaughter Kayluh Brooks.

A visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 1, 2014 from 6-8:00pm at Dallas Funeral Home, 212 W. Trade Street, Dallas. A service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 11:00am at Dallas Baptist Church, 402 W. Trade Street, Dallas. Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.
