Emma “Doris” Smith Herring was blessed to have lived 87 years and see five generations in her lineage, something most don’t get to see. She was someone who was very loving to her family and friends.
Doris passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.
She was the wife of 46 years to the late John Henry Herring and the daughter of the late George Smith and Mandy Estelle Pridgen Smith. She was also preceded in death by her brother Roscoe Smith and half-sister Mary Lee Price.
Those left behind to cherish Doris’s memories are her two daughters and sons in law: Anita McCall and Jerry of Stedman, North Carolina; Terri Falls and Billy of Bessemer City, North Carolina; her son and daughter in law: Johnny Herring and Kim of Dallas, North Carolina; sister: Dovie Worrell of Pensacola, Florida; half-sister: Brenda Walters of Raleigh, North Carolina; five grandchildren: Benji Herring and wife Kenya, Amanda Falls, LeRae Falls, Alison Lassiter and husband Robert, Andy McCall; six great grandchildren: Cameron Herring, Aubrey Herring, Katelin Johnson and husband Robert, Marcus Sox, Jeron Lassiter and Evita Lassiter; two great-great grandchildren: Lilianna Johnson and Emma Johnson.
Funeral services for Doris will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 3, 2015 in the Chapel of Dallas Funeral Home, Dallas, North Carolina with Reverend Jerry Millwood to officiate. Pallbearers are Bruce Davis, Allan Kirby, Brent Norman, Fred Adams, Marshall Hunter and Joe Rhyne.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM, Thursday December 3, 2015 at Dallas Funeral Home.
Doris will be laid to rest following the funeral service in the Long Creek Baptist Memorial Cemetery, Dallas, North Carolina.
