A good Christian Lady who Loved Christian music… A lady whose work values began at 8 years old and entered the textile industry at the age of 12 years old… These qualities helped define Edna Lee Huffstetler Hawkins, age 91 who passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Woodlawn Haven Assisted Living in Mount Holly, North Carolina. Edna was a working housewife, retiring from Burlington Industry. To add to her legacy, she was a good wife, mother and grandmother. Being around Edna, you were assured you’d never go hungry. She was a wonderful cook, biscuits, gravy and country fried steak, adding fatback in everything for flavor. Ms. Hawkins was a member of First Wesleyan Church of Dallas North Carolina.
Edna was the daughter of the late Robert R. Huffstetler and Lula Hedgepath. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Sylvanus Lee Hawkins, Jr, her daughter Gloria Dean Lineberger; two sisters: Evelyn Maddox and Margie Brown; four brothers: Claude Huffstetler, Glenn Huffstetler, Purvie Huffstetler, Ray Huffstetler and Paul Huffstetler.
Those left behind to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy are her daughter and son in law: Lula Mae “Bootsy” and Michael D. Hinkle of Gastonia, North Carolina; son in law: Dan L. Lineberger (husband of the late Gloria Lineberger); three grandchildren: Wendy H. Schmidt, Michael Paul Hinkle and Angela L.
