Archie McGugan, age 85, of Dallas, died on Friday, July 01, 2011 with his loving family by his side. Mr. McGugan was born in Chesterfield County, South Carolina and was the son of the late Anglish and Lily Chancey McGugan.
Mr. McGugan as a young man worked as a farmer and retired from Pharr Yarns, Inc. and was a member of First Baptist Church, High Shoals and was a former long time member of Hardin Baptist Church.
Mr. McGugan is survived by three sons, Leon McGugan, John Ross McGugan, Joseph McGugan all of Dallas; three daughters, Pearlene Propse, Sara Maksion and husband Jerry, Beverly Tuttherow all of Dallas; one sister, Inez Ledford of Clover; nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 P. M. to 4:00 P. M. Sunday at Hardin Baptist Church, 548 Hardin Road, Dallas, North Carolina and at other times will be at the home of Sara and Jerry Maksion, 1515 Old Dallas Highway, Dallas.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 P. M. Sunday at Hardin Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Ingle and Rev. Fain Farmer officiating.
Interment will follow at Hardin Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy Hogsed, John McGugan, Micheal McGugan, John Propse, Virgil Fortenberry, Christopher Wright.
Mr. McGugan was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 61 years, Letha McGugan; four brothers, Anglish, Willie, James and Duncan McGugan; five sisters, Catherine, Sarah, Minnie, Isabelle and Anna McGugan.
