Roger was born on June 14th, 1934 to the late Rose (Haché) Ferlatte and the late Théophile Ferlatte.
Roger’s life passion was his photography which started in the 1960’s with his brother Aurel when they opened a photography studio. His photography also became part of his work life at the NBIP Paper Mill, where he took picture of all company events. Roger became well known around his hometown of Dalhousie and beyond for his photography as well as his desire to share the town’s history through pictures. Roger loved sharing his stories over a bottle of beer. His first grandchild (Sonya) named him “Pop” because he could usually be found with a bottle of “pop” in his hand.
He is survived by his children, Michael Ferlatte (France), Lisa Bryden (Wade), Kyala (Colette) Ryder, Peter Ferlatte (Cathy); as well as his grandchildren Sonya Flight (Jason), Craig Bryden (Shayla), Isaiah Bryden (Callie), Josh Ryden (Kenzie), Jill Ryder (Miko), Pierre Ferlatte, Julie Ferlatte (Alex) and his beloved great grandchildren who brought him so much joy, Jackson, Riley, Cameron and Ellie. He is also survived by his sisters Claudette, Camille and Estelle; his brothers Guy, Robert and André, as well as many, many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Aurel and Eddie, as well as his sisters Antonia and Jeanne.
A celebration of life will be held at the Dalhousie lighthouse on August 9, 2024 at 11am followed by a get together at the Archibald room at the Recreaplex in Dalhousie.
