and Ernestine Lundberg. Upon finishing high school Herb joined the Navy and served as a
medic with the Marines for three years. He was stationed on the island of Okinawa and saw
action in Laos during the build up to the Vietnam War.
Upon leaving the military service Herb worked as a phlebotomist, drawing blood for labs, while
training to be an x-ray technician, a field in which he worked for several years. Later Herb
received a Bachelor of Science in the field of Public Health at California State University at Los
Angeles.
For thirty years Herb was employed by the Veterans Administration as a medical technician
working with heart surgery. During that time he received specialized training in Texas and
became a cardiovascular Perfusionist.
Herb retired and spent his time working on and managing properties he had accumulated. Up
to this time he had worked very hard, often with three jobs at a time.
He is survived by his wife of eight years, Brigid, his sister Annie (Anna) and several cousins.
