Burt's life was a total blessing to so many of us.  His dry wit and humor was unmatched.  His sharp mind was a wealth of satire and unparalleled recall of history.  He represented the thoughts for so many of us who did not have the outlets for our beliefs.  To say he is missed would be a masterpiece of understatement. 

Here's to you, dear old friend.  Hold that space near you upstairs.  Here's to that grand reunion day when we reconvene and reminisce about that which happened and that which never came to be.  We will rejoice about all of it.  It was a blessing to have known you,


My sincere condolences to Burt’s family. We became acquainted with each other, first from his columns at the Patriot Post and then as a subscriber to his blog. For me, besides being part of my mornings, Burt became a mentor, a counselor and best of all, a true friend. I just learned about Burt's passing last December (May 2022). I had the pleasure of talking with Burt several times on radio (WSRQ in Sarasota, FL) back in the mid 2000's. He was a great guest and was always compelling. He was a talented writer and a good man. We'll miss him.

When not int he hospital or recovery (Cancer) my first inteaction with the Web was to look up the new (missed) articles from Burt. I commented to him from time to time and was always proud to be referred to by name in an article.
When it became available, I joined the others in financial assistance through his scholarships. My final contact with his was when I told him that since I had been told that my days were now numbered, I wouldn't be renewing. His response was clear and immediate and he stated he was keeping my subscription open at no charge. 
He was a rock and I never thought I would outlive him -- wish it weren't so. One aspect of his work that I marveled at that likely very few of you appreciated -- he wrote 360+ articles per year and never seemed to have struggled for opening titles. I wrote a six-book series over several years and with the exception of the first, struggled with each title. Another attestation to that great mind that we lost.

Burt and I disagreed on politics, but he was always responsive to my emails and showed genuine wit as a wordsmith. I'm going to miss reading his columns  largely because he had his own voice . Hope he meets up with fellow funnymen like Groucho Marx in humorists'  heaven.

To Burt, the guy I could listen to forever, no matter his topic.  And I hope to do so again. A donation will be made to our local no-kill shelter.

Burt wrote for the Daily Bruin back in the 60's.  He was humorous
and talented and I looked for his columns then and now in
the Patriot Post.  He will be missed.

While I first got interested in Burt because of his political commentaries, it was his stories of Yvonne, Angel, his insights from his work on TV and discussions of movies and their musical scores that I enjoyed reading about the most.  


I read Burt's column on the Patriot Post for a long time before subscribing a year ago. I really appreciated and enjoyed his dialog with us readers in the comments section, even (or especially) when there was a difference of opinion! Burt was the only writer to engage with his readers that way. That dialog was the greatest loss when commenting had to be shut down. 
Burt's knowledge, insight, wit and way with words will be greatly missed.  Rest in peace, friend.

I've been reading Burt's writings/opinions  for some years now and always looked forward to them.  Also, whenever I contacted him with some idea or opinion of my own he always responded.  When I learned of his  passing I was truly saddened as was my wife who I often shared Burt's wisdom with.  We never met but I feel like I have lost another friend.  God rest his soul. As many have attested, if you read Burt's column he became part of your family.  His certitude was refreshing and always validated.  Burt lived by the "Golden Rule" even though he had experiences with an awful lot of people who didn't.  He was a graceful gentleman and any of us who chose to comment to him know he always replied, no matter how busy he was.  He taught us all a lot about living and in fact about dying.  One column in particular resonates.  In it Burt observed that one of the saddest things that has been lost from our society is gratitude.  I know I speak for all of us in that we are grateful for Burt's contribution to our time on Earth.

At OUR AGE  we have:

	... Heard it all.
	... Felt it all. (including aches, pains & emotions)

I am one of hundreds or perhaps thousands of Burt's admirers whose daily routines have been disrupted by his passing.  We awaken, boot up our computers and open the mail only to find no new message from Burt waiting. This is going to take some getting used to, but I'll always be grateful for those thoughts, ideas and chuckles that were passed along to me over the years. I first began reading Burt's columns on Townhall.com.
I continued reading his columns through his email subscription as his columns were my source of entertainment over lunch. His humor and insightful comments helped raise my spirits at lunch and helped me finish out the rest of my day.

I miss his daily postings, but I do hope that he is at peace and back with family and friends.

Burt was one of those most memorable personalities who come along so rarely into our lives.  He was incisive, direct, caustic, knowledgeable, passionate and so many other relevant adjectives.  His departure from our lives leaves an immense gaping hole that will never be filled.  We will all miss his monumental thoughts and his strong desire to express straight forward conservative thought like so few of us can express.  Rest well, dear friend, you will always be missed and thanks for the wonderful pages of expression that captivated us all!!

Burt and Yvonne were introduced to us by a mutual friend, Art Hershey, about 12 years ago.  We shared several meals with them at CA restaurants and at Art and Sharon’s home.   Both Burt and Yvonne are missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing them.  Burt was so cutting-edge in his writings!  His brilliant insights will be missed.  RIP Burt and Yvonne.

I would guess I met Burt online in a similar manner to most: I read one of his columns, and sent him an email. And, unlike most every other columnist, he responded! And quickly, at that. We traded emails for awhile, and eventually he told me about his newsletter emails; I subscribed, and kept it up for many years.

I remember one year, when I sent in my annual subscription, I included a t shirt I printed that said “North Hills”on it. I print t’s, and one of our local school districts here in Pittsburgh is called North Hills School District. He got a kick out of it.

I will miss Burt greatly, and I’m sad I never was able to meet him in person. I’ll just have to keep rereading his books and columns.

I did not know Burt personally, but have been a subscriber to his daily writings for approximately three years.   It has been one of the highlights of each day to read what Burt had to say.   I was in complete agreement with his thoughts most of the time.  Politically he was right on!    I will miss Burt's writings very much.   RIP Burt!

When I started reading Burt’s columns, I knew immediately that they were being written by a gentleman with deep insight and a singular sense of humor.  Reading his pieces was always a highlight of my day.  I would share them with my wife who was an equally committed fan of his writing.

On the occasions that we had e-mail exchanges, he was unfailingly honest and entertaining.  Of course, he always had the last word.

Burt Prelutsky was truly an enigma.  He said he wasn't a Christian, but, he quoted the Bible and lived a life that would contradict that belief.  He was never in the military, yet, he was more of a Patriot, Warrior and Guardian of our nation and her ideals than the majority of military folks I have known in 50 years of working directly for the military.  He loved America, he believed in our Constitution, and he was NOT gracious or benevolent to those who thought otherwise.  Although I never had the pleasure of meeting him face to face, he shall remain a true friend and one of the most inspirational, loyal countrymen I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Burt's articles started our day.  I would print the message and take it with me to our breakfast table.  It was how we started each day.  There isn't anyone that could fill his shoes.  We are missing what was the highlight of our day.

I looked forward to receiving Burt’s daily newsletter to his subscribers. I never had a meaningful disagreement with any of Burt’s political views or analyses. Like Rush Limbaugh, Burt validated my political thinking._____It was very entertaining to hear Burt’s recollections of his Hollywood friends and acquaintances. He had a real insider’s view of so many of the famous names that we recognized._____But it was Burt’s humor that set him apart. It was original, cleaver, and always amusing._____I first discovered Burt when his commentaries appeared in Heritage Foundation’s Townhall. It was a pleasant surprise when I rediscovered Burt now offering a newsletter to subscribers. Perhaps like some showing their feelings here, I met Yvonne first.  We attended the same high school in Michigan, although she was a few years ahead of me.  I was given some contact info for her since I was working on a School “Home Page”.   She went to the page that same day and put in a nice bit of ‘Bio’.  It turned out later that Yvonne and I also shared the Ham Radio Hobby.  She was involved in it by her younger brother.  

She told me about Burt’s ‘Archives’, and I worked my way through about half of them when Burt started the Subscription.  I was hooked and sent in my money shortly after that.

Although we did not always agree 100% on things, such instances were few.  He never failed to respond to a criticism or comment.  Most often the same day.  Don’t know how he did it!

I have lost many friends and family in my 82 years, but losing Burt was not just another ‘name and date’ to remember.  I just wish that he would have written and set aside a hundred ‘dailies’ for Steve to occasionally send out to us.

I somehow sense a huge sign of relief from a number of the ‘liberal idiots’ who were often in Burt’s sights.    Let’s hope that Burt’s known thoughts about religion and an ‘afterlife’ are clear to him now.  I think he will fit in quite well in Heaven.

I started reading Burt in the Patriot Post. Shortly after that I started to correspond with him.  Speaking for myself, I think we bonded soon after that. Burt became my surrogate older brother, mentor and sounding board.  As I am sure is the case with most of Burt’s readers, I started my day off with his wit and wisdom and shared him with my friends. Many of them also became avid readers of his columns. When I heard the news of his passing, it was as if I were losing a cherished member of the family and Burt was to me.  We spoke on many topics from politics to baseball and I will miss his point of view. I am so happy that I ordered 5 more of Burt’s books shortly before he passed. I am now the proud owner of, I believe, all 7 of his books, signed by him. I will treasure the books as I will of his memory. I have lost a close friend and the world has lost a treasure of wisdom. 
Burt never claimed to be religious but it came through in his writing. Not too long ago, I opined that I liked his chances of entering the Kingdom of Heaven. I hope to one day see him there. Burt will be sorely missed.  Somewhere we all seemed to have lost our will and our strength to stand up for what we know is right and true.  However Burt never  faltered and never lost his courage to say the true no matter what others were doing.  That is truly a great attribute.  We have lost one of the rare great ones who was willing  to speak those truths that most of us wish we could say or at least have the hope that someone would stand up for us and say the things we wanted said,  but that no one in the media ever had the intelligence or courage to say them. I never met Burt face-to-face but I feel as if I lost a dear friend.  We had a lot in common and often commented on it.  Every morning I would read his column while I had my coffee and it just does not seem the same without his pithy and wonderfully politically incorrect comments.  RIP, my Friend, and thank you for all the many hours of knowledge, humor, and insight into life you provided me all these many years.  

Burt was a friend that I never met in person. He had a way of cutting through the great nonsense of our time, while exposing the stupidity and hypocrisy of our so-called leaders. Yet, he did so using humor rather than anger.  His sharp wit and common sense will be sorely missed!

One could tell by his writings that he was a kind and caring soul. I will miss his articles. 

I feel as if I have lost someone very close.  Even before I  found out I could subscribe to his daily columns , I followed him on Town Hall and then Patriot and I read several of his books.  Whenever I sent an E mail, even before I was a subscriber, he answered me immediately, always with great humor.  I already miss his E mails every morning. Reading them was my breakfast routine.  RIP Burr. There is a hole in my heart...............and my mind.

Despite claims of not being religious Burt was extremely spiritual and I hope to get to heaven to say, "Hello." 

I shall miss him so much.  He was with me every morning.    I always read his columns in WND and then enjoyed his podcasts.  That's when we became "friends" even though I never met him in the flesh.   He wrote things that no one else had the guts to say.  God rest his soul.

I “met” Burt when a friend forwarded one of his predictably perfect articles to me and I wrote him to say how much I enjoyed his composition.  He thanked me very much and suggested that if I liked his writing style, I should consider buying a subscription so that I could read him daily.  And so I did.  

He never failed to respond to me, despite his many followers, always with humor, whether complimenting or criticizing my remarks.
Reading his articles became the highlight of my early mornings and was the perfect complement to my coffee. I flipped through all e-mails to find HIS article first!   His ability to show outrage and humor simultaneously was uniquely Burt.  He mastered sarcasm and injected it always in “just the right place”.

Only after reading him for about a month or so did I realize what a “big deal” he actually was.  By that, I mean how extensive his career had been, publishing several books, writing for television programs, and more.  Small wonder so many of those shows were so successful !  

The world has lost a wonderful, brilliant and gifted man.  And morning coffee will never be quite the same for me without him.  My sincere condolences to Burt’s family.  You were blessed to have been a part of that special group.  

And the man adored his wife, Yvonne and his sweet Angel.  That came through in nearly every communication we shared.

RIP, dear “friend”.  You are deeply missed by many.

I never met Burt, but we had a close relationship through our emails.  He was the brother I never had, very personable and available, a bit grumpy like me, and highly intelligent and an outstanding writer.   He had a crusty exterior and a heart of gold. As a fairly recent subscriber of two+ years I have been continually amazed that Burt could crank out mostly interesting and pithy articles 365 days and then some.  Such a feat!  He also made time to engage in email discussions with average old folks like me - no pretensions of being "Mr. Hollywood" lunching with the rich and famous.  Since he loved dogs, I made it a point to send him those cute internet videos - he never said he had seen it 20 times already, and was always gracious.  A friend I never met, but...a heartfelt RIP.

The world has lost one of its most talented and brilliant sons. His vast intelligence gave to him the joy of writing…..books, television scripts, movie critic, newspaper columnist, movie production, and being a true friend to all. We shall all be forever thankful for a great friend , full of wit along with being incredibly incisive. My daily routine of reading his columns is over, but my memories of him are not.

His columns were outstanding and will be greatly missed.  Conservatives have lost Burt and Rush Limbaugh, too bad it wasn't Schumer and Nadler.

I always looked forward to reading his opinions.. he had an interesting life in Hollywood and his reflections on his career were fascinating.  He was not afraid to tell the truth as he saw it. I will miss his column
