Barbara Cecilia Steed, age 67, died at UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, on Friday, January 30, 2015. She was born on October 19, 1947, in Los Angeles, California, to Bob and Bettie Buchtel. Barbara grew up in Mar Vista and was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy High School and Woodbury Business College. For over forty years she was the Executive Secretary to the President of Teledyne Reynolds Incorporated. Barbara married Gary Lee Steed on July 29, 1967 at St. Timothy's Church. Married for forty-seven years, they resided in Playa Del Rey, California.
She is preceded in death by her sister Gretchen Buchtel Cook and her brother Robert E. "Bobby" Buchtel. Barbara is survived by her husband, Gary Steed, her sisters Mary Elizabeth Wafer and Virginia Mary Dailey and her many nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at 11am on Thursday, February 5th, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, 7390 West Manchester Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90045.
