She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the youngest of six children born to her parents, Howard and Ethel Wilds.
Sylvia had a beautiful mezzo soprano voice and sang professionally until she married the love of her life, Ronald Ivan Shultz Sr. They traveled together with their growing family to many places in the eastern United States, in full time Christian ministry.
Sylvia was a vibrantly warm loving person who was known for her hospitality, appreciation of good food and good music, and love of her family and her Lord. She was never rich by the world’s measure but was quick to share the wealth of her love and hospitality to all the family, friends, and acquaintances that crossed her threshold.
Sylvia persevered through many difficulties in her lifetime. The losses of her beloved husband Ron Sr, son Ron Jr, daughter Christine, and granddaughter Melissa were heartbreaking but her steadfast faith and loving care of family members never wavered.
The last seven months of her life were particularly challenging. Her family was by her side every day.
She is survived by three children: Sylvia Dawn (Don), Carol (Jason), and Tim (Jennifer). Preceding her in death are her husband Ronald Ivan Sr., her children Ronald Ivan Jr. (Elizabeth) and Christine Margaret (Dean), and her granddaughter Melissa.
Sylvia also leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren: Jay (Christie), Melony (Robert), Heather (Trey), DJ (Angela), Brian (Lauren), Tessa (Jeridan), Rachel (Jake), Victoria (Julian), and Zach (Katie), as well as sixteen precious great-grandchildren.
Sylvia’s legacy of love, faith, and generosity will continue to live on through her family and all whose lives she touched.
