It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Sue Bunch Jenkins announce her passing on May 23, 2024, at the age of 67. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Ann Mason (Don), her brother, Vernon Bunch (Jane), her nephew, Jason Bunch (Courtney), her niece, Kelly Bunch, her great nephew, Levi Wetzel, and her great niece McKinlee. Also, those missing her will be her special aunts and her uncle, many cousins, and many extended family members. Surviving Sue are many dear friends, especially Debbie Green. Sue is leaving behind her loving cat, Cookie.
She was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Rusty; parents, BV Bunch, and Frances Bunch; and a special aunt who helped to raise her, Ruby Hensley.
Sue was born in Warrenton, Virginia, on December 17, 1956. She graduated from Culpeper County High School in 1975, received her undergraduate degree from James Madison University in 1979 and her
graduate degree from the University of Virginia in 2010. She worked for Culpeper County Public Schools for 43 years, first as an elementary teacher, then as a math specialist, and finally as a curriculum specialist for math and science (K-12). She retired in 2022.
Volunteering was her passion and she belonged over the years to many different groups and organizations, several of which held a special place in her heart, Culpeper Jaycees, Blue and Red Project, and especially, Culpeper Community Christmas Basket Program, which she coordinated for 35+ years. She had recently begun volunteering with Manna Ministry. Throughout the years, she received many accolades and awards for the impact she had on so many lives. Most recently was the Culpeper Police Department Amazing Citizen Award in 2020 and the Culpeper County Public Schools Spotlight Award in 2021.
She devoted her life to serving others through her work, volunteerism, church involvement (Hopewell United Methodist Church), dedication to family and friends, and her kind spirit shared with all who knew her.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, on June 7, 2024, at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA. Trey Hensley and Mike Evans will officiate Sue’s funeral service on June 8, 2024, at 1 pm, to be held at Clore-English Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, 822 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. Pallbearers will be Ross Swan, Jonny Hamilton, Justin Gillespie, David Goode, Rob Hauman, Bobbie Anderson, Mark Callahan, and David Jones.
